I've been building models of various types since I was 7 years old. My first kit was the Revell USS Coral Sea - the ship my dad served on. For years, all I built was 1/48 scale aircraft. Navy mostly. Monogram kits - the kind with the folding wings, retractable landing gear and sliding canopies. Built some ships, too. The Arizona, Bismark, New Jersey, etc. PT-109 in there somewhere. Then, I was introduced to armor with the Monogram series with the Shep Paine dioramas. I was hooked. In 1977 I enlisted in the US Navy and took a 20 year haitus from model building while I served my country. When I retired in 1997, I went back to model building and was amazed at the plethora of companies. I pretty much settled on armor.
